Book 1 of THE Tempest Rising Series

A courageous orphan. An ancient evil. A mysterious medallion.

In the village of Laan, Zodak endures a bleak life of misery at the hands of his hateful cousins and aunt. His steadfast uncle Ardon is his only anchor. When a water sprite arrives, speaking of destiny and an epic journey that awaits, Zodak struggles to grasp how an adventure with goblins, krikkis, and dwarves could ever be his story.

But when his uncle falls in a kidnapping plot and entrusts Zodak with a mysterious medallion, Zodak flees into a vast, unknown world. Seeking answers about his past and the medallion he carries, Zodak finds himself drawn to the magnificent city Uth Becca. In his journey, he unearths a clandestine order, a corrupt Magistrate, and a sinister plot that threatens humanity’s very existence.

A great evil awakens. Dark hordes are on the march.  In a world desperate for a hero, can an outcast be enough?

Get swept away in an epic fantasy adventure with an unlikely hero on the edge of manhood, world-building reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson, and a protagonist who must decide whether to fight for truth, even if it costs him everything.

Throne Born

A Novella

Prequel to the Tempest Rising Trilogy

It is the age of kings. In the grand city of K’andoria, King Trimidian rules with a fair hand. The great evil sleeps.

Yet fissures have appeared across the kingdom.  Savage Crow rebels terrorize villages across Rislaan; the haughty Far-Seer Priesthood of Epis Kopol has ignited a trade war; and decay and unrest plague Uth Becca, the once glorious White City.

The ambitious governor Ryvek Flailgore rules the White City, but his ambitions know no bounds. He eyes the crown. King Trimidian must show strength yet mercy, wisdom yet resolve, ever aware that history watches his every move.

Throne Born brings the long-dormant Age of Kings to vivid life. Maneuvering, political intrigue, intense battles, and the unyielding quest for power unfold in this epic tale with nothing less than the kingdom itself hanging in the balance. As the struggle for the Crown unfolds, King Trimidian navigates treacherous waters to secure his legacy and leave his mark upon the pages of history. The path he chooses will forever mark him as savior or villain.

Follow the prequel that predates Zodak – The Last Shielder by two hundred years.

Author

Max Moyer

Max grew up roaming the streets and exploring the deep dark forests of Washington D.C. terrorizing neighborhood wild game and putting his brother Eli through various club initiations. He now resides in Oakton, VA (just outside D.C.) with his wife and four kids (lovingly referred to as the “Treehouse Gang”). The Treehouse Gang is, without a doubt, the biggest fan of his writing and creativity.

As a day (and sometimes night) job, Max runs Triumph Law, a boutique corporate law firm , where he works with amazing founders building, growing and selling inspiring companies. In the off hours (read: early in the morning before anyone else is awake or after they’re asleep), he loves getting lost in his writing.

In his (limited) free time (see above about running a law firm and raising four kids), he loves playing/swimming/skating/trampolining/fishing/skiing with the Treehouse Gang, riding his classic motorcycle, woodworking, drawing/painting, watching great movies and playing board games.

As an avid reader of fantasy fiction, it is refreshing to discover a writer with the gifts for world building, character development, and plot creation, all with the ability to captivate an audience.  Max’s works show he is just this type of unique talent, and I long for more journeys through the world of Yiduiijn.”

– Mike Slattery

{

Gripping storytelling rare for a debut. Max has started exploration of a fantastic world that seems both familiar to any reader of fantasy but that rivals Sanderson for its novelty, depth, and intrigue.”
